"Gem Mining has always been a big attraction for folks to enjoy when they visit.  Rockhounds from all over the country have been coming to our area for years now and for good reason.  An untold amount of sapphires, rubies and other semiprecious stones have been uncovered in our area since mining began, bringing people back year after year."

Before you decide on a gem mine to visit, take a look at recommended mines below and find out what they offer and what will best suit your needs.  For example, some mines offer "salted" bags of dirt which means foreign and possibly native stones have been added to the dirt to make gem hunting more enjoyable and rewarding.  Be sure to decide on what type of gem mining you would like to do before you make your decision.  Doing this will make your trip more enjoyable for your entire group or family.
