The Local Scoop

This is a very convenient picnic area if traveling along this section of the "Mountain Waters Scenic Byway." Plan on stopping at this location for your picnic after leaving nearby Highlands on your way to Franklin or vice versa. If you have some spare time, try your luck at some trout fishing that's just a few short steps away from the picnic tables, or if the weather is warm, wade in the cold mountain waters of the Cullasaja River with your kids. If the water is too cold for you, bring a lounge chair and sit out on the exposed rock that makes up part of the riverside. Read a book wihile soaking up some sun. We recommend this picnic spot due to it's ease of access and because of it's close proximity to the river.
