From Bryson City, NC take U.S. Hwy-74/19 West for 8.2 miles to junciton of N.C. Hwy-28 towards Robbinsville, NC and Fontana Dam, take Hwy-28 for 21.3 miles to "Fontana Dam Road" on your Right. Take this road for 2.2 miles out to and over the dam to a dead end. Pick up the Eagle Creek Trail here. It spurs off of the Appalachian Trail which heads up to the ridgeline. Eagle Creek Trail starts along the Western-most of Fontana Lake's "fingers" and you'll run into Eagle Creek in approx. 5.5 miles after intersecting with the Lakeshore trail (the share the trail for a short distance).
