This half gravel-half pavement "Forest Road" is a unique in many ways. This road is near and dear to us because of all the fond memories we have of this road and all of the experiences that surrounds it. We spent our summers here when we were kids.
As I listed above in the highlights portion of this page, there are multiple points of interest along this forest road.
I would like to recommend this area/road to the entire family. It has always been a very safe haven for children and parents alike.
A few of our "must see" POIs along Forest Road 67:
We suggest camping out at Standing Indian Campground for at least two nights and making half day trips to each of these locations for a truly peaceful and relaxing getaway. Enjoy!
From intersection of U.S. Hwy-64 W and U.S. Hwy-23/441 North in Franklin, NC take Hwy-64 W towards Murphy, NC for 12 miles. At just before the 12th mile you should see a Brown sign for "Wallace Gap", "Appalachian Trail" & "Standing Indian Campground" with arrows pointing you towards West Old Murphy Road(SR 1448) on your left, take this left. Stay on W.Old Murphy Rd. for 2 miles. You'll pass a Nantahala National Forest Sign for the campground saying "500 Ft Ahead", and at 2 miles you'll be at FR (Forest Road) #67 to your Right (indicated by a small, skinny Brown sign at the beginning of the road).
