The Local Scoop

The Jackson County Recreation Complex is a great place to have a picnic with the kids or family. This area has tons to do and especially tons for the kids to do. From basketball to soccer to playgounds they will have plenty to keep them occupied before and after your picnic lunch. We recommend this area to those who are traveling through the Cullowhee area, whether on your way to Sylva from Cashiers or on your way to Cashiers from Sylva. This is a nice spot to take a break, have a picnic or just let your kids run around for a while. Be sure to stop by any of the fine establishments listing under our "Eat" section to stock up on all of your picnic goodies and be sure to tell them Stay And Play In The Smokies sent you!

The Local Directions

From Cullowhee, NC and Western Carolina University get on N.C. Hwy-107 South towards Tuckasegge/Cashiers and travel 1.3 miles to the red light at Cullowhee Mountain Road to your Right. Take the Right for another couple hundred feet to parking and access on the Right.
