The Local Scoop

Excellent spot for a roadside picnic along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  We highly recommend the Licklog Gap Overlook for a 'pit-stop' for views and to grab a quick snack while you stretch your legs.  
The picnic table (only one) is located under a nice shady Oak tree.  You might also notice a little nature trail leading into the woods behind this area.  Although we are not sure how long it goes for, the trail makes for a nice short stroll in which to stretch your legs.
Also, this overlook is located on the southbound lane side of the Blue Ridge Parkway. 

The Local Directions

From the Blue Ridge Parkway access off of U.S. Highway 74/23 just outside of Waynesville, NC, travel North along the Parkway for just over 7 miles to 'Licklog Gap Overlook' on your left.  Note:  Make sure you go left from the top of the short connector road via U.S. Highway 74/23.  You want to go towards Asheville.
