If you're in Franklin and need a place to take your younger kids to play and run around, then we recommend bringing them to the Macon Co. Veterans Memorial Recreation Park. Here you'll be able to let your kids play on the playground before or after your picnic at one of the many tables/shelters available. In the Summer months, bring them to the pool area where there are always lifeguards on duty and a snack bar. There is plenty of room to let them run around and burn off some energy. If you are interested in fishing this park offers easy access to the Cartoogechaye Creek which is stocked with Hatchery Supported Trout that are perfect for the beginner. This park also boasts 6 tenniis courts and both inside and outside basketball courts. There is plenty to do here especially if you have young children with you.
Take U.S. Hwy-441/23 South out of Downtown Franklin for approx. 0.4 mile (passing through 2 red lights). First entrance will be the First Left through the light via side road (Allman Drive) between Huddle House Restaurant & Texaco/Arby's Gas Station. Follow this road for approx. 0.2 mile until entrance at pool area. Second entrance will be directly off of Hwy 441/23 South at bottom of hill and over bridge just past first entrance. This entrance will bring you into the parking area for the Macon County Community Building. Either entrance will gain you access to the park.
