The Local Scoop

Vanhook Glade Campground is very conveniently located just off of U.S. Hwy-64 between Franklin and Highlands N.C. There are multiple outdoor activities to do in the area within about a mile or so. Go swimming and fishing at nearby Cliffside Lake via "Vanhook Trail", located within the campground. If driving is easier, go 0.1 mile East on U.S. 64 to the entrance of Cliffside Lake Recreation Area and get the $4 fee due comped for paying to camp. You could also enjoy one of the nearby waterfalls (Cullasaja Falls & Trail, Bust Your Butt Falls, Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls & Lake Sequoyah Dam Falls (Kalakaleskies)) to visit or go into Franklin for supplies or Highlands for some unique shopping. Take a look at "Stay And Play's" Custom, interactive map for more things to do within a reasonable driving time for you and your family. Also, not to be forgotten is the Cullasaja River located just across Hwy 64 from the campground. The river boasts the 4 popular waterfalls mentioned above, numerous pull-offs for sight seeing, fishing opportunities, swimming and exploring.  What a great area!!

The Local Directions

From Highlands, NC
Take U.S. Hwy-64 West (Franklin Road) for 4.1 miles, and Vanhook Glade Campground will be on your right. 

From Franklin, NC
From the intersection of U.S. Hwy-64 East and U.S. Hwy-23/441 North in Franklin take Hwy-64 East towards Highlands, NC for approx. 12.7 miles. Look for a brown and white Nantahala National Forest sign on the Right hand side (Entrance on your Left) of U.S. 64 at 12.7 miles.
