Sapphire Valley NC is in a beautiful emerald valley sitting at 3,500 feet surrounded by the Great Smoky Mountains which rise up to 5,000 feet.

Ski Runs reach up to 1,600 feet in length and have a vertical drop of 200 feet. There is also tubing at the Frozen Falls Tube Park. 

 For some family oriented fun head on over to the Sapphire Valley Gem Mining. They offer authentic flume lines providing the tools necessary to sift through your mining bucket containing raw sapphires, rubies and more! The friendly staff at Sapphire Valley Gem Mine will teach you what to look for and how to identify your treasures. "Little Miners" buckets are also available for the young ones.

 Located here in the Sapphire Valley is Gorges State Park. Boasting an elevation that rises 2,000 feet in only four miles and rainfall in excess of 80 inches per year, Gorges is a temperate rain forest and has some of the most stunning Western North Carolina Waterfalls around. Currently encompassing nearly 7,500 acres, Gorges is the only North Carolina State Park west of Asheville. Because the park is relatively new it is still undergoing planning and development phases, but the plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges and sheer rock walls make Gorges State Park a must see on your next vacation list. 

 Just a short drive from Sapphire Valley NC  is Lake Toxaway North Carolina, a place where families have been drawn to the breathtaking mountain vista and crystal clear waters since 1903 when the Fords, Edisons, and Rockefellers came by private railroad car.
